6 Tips To Help You Get Ready For Spring

The time has come to put on your rubber gloves and get out your all purpose cleaner for spring cleaning. While you’re preparing to air out your home and spruce things up, take these tips into consideration.

Clean One Room at a Time

Instead of making a long list of spring cleaning to-dos, break it down room-by-room. Approaching spring cleaning this way will keep you from feeling overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done. It will also help you zero in on areas of your home that need extra attention. Create a list of all the rooms in your home. Then, make a checklist for each room. You can check off a few items each day as you complete them. You can start with the easy rooms first, or tackle the rooms that were left unattended to during the winter.

Declutter Purposely

Decluttering your home and getting rid of things you don’t need is one of the biggest parts of spring cleaning. However, if you don’t approach this task purposefully it’s unlikely to have a lasting effect. Start by identifying areas of your home that are jumbled and messy. Analyze why these areas are so prone to clutter, find a solution, then implement it. It’s okay if your first method of organization doesn’t work out. It might take a few tries before you find a method that works well for you and your family.

Get the Whole Family Involved

Don’t attempt to complete all of your spring cleaning tasks by yourself. Ask your spouse, partner, or roommate to split the list of chores with you and you’ll cut your cleaning time in half. If you have children, there are age appropriate tasks they can do as well.  Delegate small, easy-to-do jobs like wiping down the coffee table or vacuuming to your kids, so you can handle bigger projects, like reorganizing the pantry.

Create New Cleaning Habits

After you’ve completely refreshed your home is the perfect time to create new cleaning habits that can help you keep your home looking great. For instance, just like you shouldn’t try to tackle all of your spring cleaning in a single day, don’t try to clean your whole house once a week. Instead, assign a room to each day, and clean one room at a time. That way every room of your house gets the attention it needs.
